Groovevolt.com Announces Music & Fashion Award Nominees
NEW YORK, NY, Nov. 24 -- Groovevolt.com, one of the Internet's leading music sites, announced the nominees Monday for its First Annual GV Music & Fashion Awards. Voting for the awards will take place at Groovevolt.com beginning December 2 and the winners will be announced on January 16, 2004.
Ninety-three artists received at least one nomination. They were led by 50 Cent who garnered seven GV Music Award nods including Album of the Year (Get Rich or Die Tryin'), Song of the Year ("In Da Club") and Best New Artist. Christina Aguilera received six nominations, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, and Fountains of Wayne each garnered five nominations, and four artists--Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott, and Sean Paul--each took home four nominations. A complete list of nominees can be found at Groovevolt.com.
"These nominees showcase the wide variety of music that Groovevolt.com
covers, from rock to hip-hop, to country," Groovevolt.com Editor-in-Chief Chauncy Jackson said. "Our readers have diverse musical interests and these nominations articulate well the best and the brightest in the world of music."
Music fans who log onto Groovevolt.com from December 2 to January 16, 2004, will be able to vote, in more than 30 categories, for their favorite rock, hip-hop, and pop artists, as well as for their favorite movie soundtrack, deep cuts, and most fashionable artists. "Many award shows have the same categories," Jackson said. "We wanted to find a way to nominate tracks that were not released as singles. The Deep Cut category does just that. In addition, our fashion studio logs in nearly two million page views monthly and that moved us to include four fashion categories."
Nominees were chosen from artists whose albums were released from August 15, 2002 to August 31, 2003. Singles released during that time period are eligible, even if the albums from which the song came were not yet released.
Groovevolt.com is one of the leading music and lifestyle sites on the
Internet, with more than 6.5 million page views and more than 500,000 unique users each month. In the past several months, Groovevolt.com has announced partnerships with Diesel and BMG, both of whom will play an active role in Groovevolt.com's current "It's Your Music" marketing campaign.
Groovevolt.com's parent company, Musik Entertainment Inc., plans to release GV Magazine in the 2nd quarter of 2004 and launch three video music-based programs during the 2004 spring television season.
